Collars

Today I worked on collars. I like working on collars, button holes, anything having to do with detailing. With one bodice slope, I can make a myriad of different style shirts just by changing the collar.

V-neck. Super easy, enforcement stitch along point, cut strip of fabric aligned with stretch of fabric, cross grain. Sew as if for regular oval shape, clip at V, press, sew vertical along collar, and you have a v-neck.  If you know how to do a v-neck, you can turn any standard pattern into a v-neck pattern.

All three from far top left, round collar cut with grain of fabric. V-neck, cross grain, bias cut collar.

Cut along grain of fabric parallel to the selvage.

Bias, 45 degree cut.
